Complement your paddling and rescue skills by learning to roll. We cannot guarantee you will be able to roll at the end of this session, but you’ll have the understanding and the tools to continue working on your roll.  To create a high-quality learning environment, class size will be limited to  2:1 participant/instructor ratio/

Length: 2 hours

Cost: $69.00

Prerequisite: Level III Edging and Bracing

Intensity: Moderate to High

What to Bring:

Rocky Point Kayak will provide all participants with wetsuits and a spray top

Swimsuit (for under wetsuit), change of clothes & towel

Secure footwear (sandals with heel strap, old shoes etc.)

Non-cotton insulated top (fleece, quick drying nylon or synthetic material)

Nutritious snack and water

Nose plug and goggles

Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking Skills

This full day course is longer and more detailed than our ‘Complete Package’ and by completing this course you will be issued with a Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking Skills Certificate.  This course is focused on developing skills and knowledge for those interested in exploring the Indian Arm and other coast lines. You will have the confidence to participating in overnight excursions with experienced kayakers.

Course Content

Entering/exiting the Kayak                                                                                                    
Forward and reverse strokes
Sweep stroke
Draw stroke
Low brace
Edging
Retrieving a swamped kayak
Wet Exit
Assisted Rescue

Time: 9:00am – 5:30pm

Cost: $159.99

Prerequisite: none ** Lunch is not included **

Other: Please bring a packed lunch as we discuss our trip preperation during the lunch break.

Intensity: moderate

What to Bring:

Bracing is an advanced technique that will increase your comfort and ability to stay balanced in your kayak in a variety of sea conditions. Bracing is also a key progression to rolling your kayak. Edging is an advanced technique to assist you in turning your kayak and maneuverability; and plays a major part when in choppy conditions or if you have to suddenly change direction.

Location: Rocky Point

Length: 3 hours

Cost: $75.00

Prerequisite: Level II Capsize Recovery

Intensity: Moderate to Intense

What to Bring:

Rocky Point Kayak will provide all participants with wetsuits and spray jacket

Swimsuit, change of clothes & towel

Secure footwear (sandals with heel strap etc.)

Non-cotton insulated top (fleece or polypropylene)

Water bottle and snacks

Sunscreen
